How much does a wedding videographer cost? Breaking Down Your Investment

Filmmakers. Photographers. Your biggest fans from behind the lens.

With backgrounds in media, music, and storytelling (plus a healthy obsession with dogs and good lighting), we’ve spent the last decade turning real love stories into cinema gold.

We’re Jen
and Kayla!

Let’s talk money. I know, that’s a hard subject to discuss, especially with strangers. But let’s face it, you have to hire SOMEONE to provide the services for your wedding, right? And please don’t let Uncle Bob take care of it for you – unless he is a professional! Let him enjoy being a guest at your wedding and let’s get into what to expect to pay your videographer for the services you’re booking.

What are the different types of coverage you can get?

First of all, you should have an idea of what you want out of your wedding videographer. We can get into details and there are ENDLESS options, but for the sake of brevity, let’s go with the basics.

Generally we see that most wedding timelines need at least 8 hours of coverage, so let’s refer to that as “full day” coverage. Now obviously the entire point of a wedding is the ceremony, so you’ll obviously want a full edit of that using multiple angles to catch all the feels and high-quality audio so you can hear your sweet words to one another – Uncle Bob’s camcorder won’t catch those in the back *wink*.

And finally the modern version of a wedding video is what we refer to as a highlight film. We take only the best bits and pieces of all the events throughout your day and edit them together with music that fits the mood in an artistic style to retell your story. WHEW! And we STILL haven’t even talked about money yet!

How much does a wedding videographer cost?

So we have 8 hours of coverage, a full ceremony edit, and your highlight film. On average, your wedding videographer cost is going to be at least $3,000 for a seasoned, professional videography team. With us, that will run you a starting price of $4,500 as of June 2025.

Why the difference? We have been filming weddings since 2016 and have accumulated over 140 weddings worth of experience. Back in 2021 we averaged around $2,000 – so why the increase?

Well, there’s a lot of factors that go into it. That was our first year going full time. Without another job providing a sustainable income, we went all in. We improved our gear and craft in order to provide an amazing experience and product for you – our clients. Our attention to detail is unmatched! We take notes from our first chat with you that we refer back to right before your wedding to make sure we are focused on what matters to you most so that we don’t miss anything (or anyone!) important.

What actually goes into the investment with a videographer?

Why is it important to spend this much on your videographer, even if you’re only getting 2 videos you may ask? Well it’s simple. Video gives you some things that your photography just can’t.

You’ll never be able to watch your favorite relative cutting it loose on the dance floor with their sick moves. You’ll never be able to hear that hilarious speech that had everyone in tears or the touching speech that had everyone smiling to hold back their tears.

The only way to truly relive your day is through both your photos and your videos. And you shouldn’t leave that up to just anyone.

The Videography Cost Breakdown: Our Process

If you’re still not convinced, let me break it down even further for you. We always have at least 2 shooters at your wedding. Sometimes we bring an assistant because we have so much gear that if we handle it by ourselves, we will be hurting the next day. We even have headsets so that we can communicate issues and needs to make your day flow efficiently.

We will always have at least 3-4 cameras set up for most of your events throughout the day. We do this so we can cover multiple angles for a few reasons: if your photographer wants a shot, there is no worry about them stepping in front of our camera for a moment because most likely we have it covered with another camera.

We also provide multiple audio sources so if your DJ’s wireless microphone signal goes out during your ceremony or toasts, we’ve got it covered. Additionally, we have our own lighting equipment that we bring (that photographers LOVE!) to make your inside events sparkle.

What we do with your precious memories after your wedding

Now we come to post-production. When we say goodbye at the end of the night, we still have homework! We recharge our batteries (for our gear and ourselves) and upload your footage. You can rest assured knowing your footage will not be lost.

On the day of your wedding, we dual record the entire day. This means that we have 2 SD cards that are recording simultaneously. We do this so if something happens to one of the cards, we are covered. Then we upload your footage and organize it, making sure nothing gets left behind. We save it to our external hard drive and then upload everything to the cloud where it will stay for at least one year after your wedding.

Then of course we get to work editing your films! We could go on forever but we will save you the details – for now.
